Within this project a combinatoric materials science approach will be used initially to identify promising alloys based on the systems Ti-Ta-X (X = Al, Sn, Bi…) and Co-Ni-X (X = Ga, Al,…). In addition, well-known high-temperature shape memory alloys (HTSMAs) such as Ni-Ti-Hf or Ni-Ti-Pd will serve as reference materials.
Based on data such as transformation temperatures, hysteresis width and cyclic stability, certain alloys will be selected and then processed in bulk form using ingot metallurgy and heat treatments.
