Structure and properties of Ti-Ta-X

This sub-project will combine atomistic modeling and neutron diffraction to understand phase stability and martensitic transformation in high-temperature shape memory alloys (HTSMAs) from the Ti-Ta-X-(Y) systems. The formation of the ω-phase is of special interest as this phase seems to play a pivotal role in understanding functional degradation at elevated temperatures.
