Functional and structural thermomechanical fatigue of high-temperature shape memory alloys (HTSMAs)

For many of the envisaged applications, damage evolution under cyclic thermal and/or mechanical load will govern the fatigue life of HTSMAs. Thus, the sub-project will address fatigue behavior under thermomechanical loading conditions. To understand the dominating microstructural processes, both post-mortem and in-situ fatigue experiments in the neutron source will be conducted.
