In-situ fatigue studies of high-temperature shape memory alloys (HTSMAs)

The focus of this sub-project is on understanding the microstructure-stress-strain-relationship in HTSMAs. Of specific interest are high-resolution in-situ techniques that allow for mapping the local strain evolution during the martensitic phase transformation. This data will then be employed to develop a microstructural-based model that can account for variant interaction in polycrystalline SMAs.
